NEGOTIATION 2 - “Let’s make a deal”

COMMON SENSE TIPS

1.) Attitude is very important it has a higher ratio to kill than bullet. You don’t have it like your opponents but don’t let your dislike become obvious. Self Respect, Self Interest should not be selected.

2.) Don’t show your emotion. Bluster is a sign of weakness keep a poker face (indifference) mostly when you think you can come out a winner. You might meet again on the same table. Who will you like to deal with? Some one who wants to get a deal or someone who wants to get even?

3.) Don’t talk about it in the elevator “walls have ears” It’s a small world.

4.) Deals are made between parties who seek mutual advantage, not unilateral victory. Both sides have to win something or you don’t have a deal. Peace treaties are made between enemies not friends and it takes war to get them to the bargaining table.

5.) Your first offer should not be your last. Allow your opponents to knock you of a little- Remember both side has to win something.

6.) Don’t be afraid to take a risk. A lawyer who says he/she never lose a case settles early.

7.) You don’t have to be afraid to go to an expert when you need to. You don’t know everything. Pretend that you are knowledgeable in something you don’t or have information so you don’t harm your position. This makes you look weak and foolish in your opponent’s eyes.

8.) Know that in every negotiation everybody is under pressure to perform. They have bosses, stresses, fear and objectives too just like you. So every opponents have weaknesses. Don’t attribute more strength to already have enough.

9.) You can get what you want by calling it another name. Renegotiation, Severance pay, Consulting contract. Not on permanent issues/basis okay call it Internship.

10.) Take your time don’t let the other side force a deal the more time you give yourself the more information you can gather about our adversaries time needs “let me give it some thought”

NEGOTIATION 1 ; “Let’s make a deal”

“Let’s make a deal”

TIPS
1.) Never accept any proposal immediately, no matter how good it sounds.

2.) Never negotiate with yourself. Once you’ve made an offer, if the other party don’t accept it, don’t make another offer. Get a counter offer . It’s a sign of weakness when you lower your own demands without getting opponents to lower theirs.

3.) Never cut a deal with someone who has to “go back to get the boss’s approval” That is two bite of an apple to your own.

4.) If you cant say yes, its no. Just because a deal can’t be done, doesn’t mean it should be done. No one ever went broke saying no too often.

5.) It may look nonnegotiable, doesn’t mean it is. The printed standard contract may look beautifully cut in granite. It can be negotiated if the bluff were called.

6.) Get informed by doing your homework. Instinct is great but can’t match information.

7.) Rehearse, Practice. Get someone to play the other side. Instincts are no match for preparation.

8.) Beware of the late dealer. It is an act of trying to say that they are not too keen or no time or chance for negotiation.

9.) Be nice but if you can’t be nice go away let another person do it so you don’t blow it.

10.) Deals can be struck when both parties see that it is beneficial symbiotically.

11.) Generate excitement. Help the other side to see the benefit,- Visualize it and they’ll see themselves.

12.) Given reason is never the real reason; you can eliminate the given reason.

13.) Always let the other talk first their offer might surprise you by being lower than you thought or expected.

RESOLUTIONS….KEEPING THEM.

It’s a common thing to hear of New ear resolutions and people actually making them and maybe you too as a person did make…. This is a new quarter of the year…how many if any at all after the first few days did you keep? Or maybe you’ve even forgotten 90% of the resolutions you made. Maybe it a new set we actually need now, why not try these ones.

1.) I WILL IMPROVE MY SKILLS: Remind yourself that you can’t learn new things if you are always doing the talking. Abandon the “phony open door policy” as politicians, permanent secretaries, etc says and actually set aside specific times so that others can have real access to me. Encourage free flow of information across the departmental and hierarchical lines.

2.) I WILL IMPROVE MY PROFESSIONAL SKILLS: Get away from the old folk’s and learn new things. Get knowledge on how to use new equipment, learn new language, even how to swim. As a professional stop bragging about your inability to use modern day equipments e.g. communication and computers.

3.) I WILL IMPROVE MY READING SKILLS: I will take a speed reading course. I will search out materials that will introduce me to new ideas and new ways of thinking. Hold a good book always.

4.) I WILL WASTE LESS TIME: All of my ease or committal time I will use in reading, improving my skills and broading my experience and understanding on issues and matters I do not yet know much about.

5.) I WILL EXERCISE: Exercise not only improves your health they also help you maintain a high performance at work. Be positively addicted.

6.) I WILL ENCOURAGE RISK TAKING: Business fails not because of lack of funds but from boldness to try new things. Do not blame honest mistakes. Make others love their work as you do, make it fun for others and not only pay checks.

7.) PLAN TO BECOME THE SOLE SOURCE OF SIMPLY TO YOUR BIGGEST CUSTOMERS: Make them feel important and service them to make feel that they are part of your company.

8.) I WILL CONTRIBUTE TO MY COMMUNITY: Be giver of time, money, make a difference, and make your environment be a better place for everyone.

9.) NOT NEGLECT MY FAMILY FOR ALMIGHTY DOLLAR: Always tell them to make room for me because I am coming home after work.

Have you ever wondered why (?)…

Have you ever wondered why (?)…. Maybe you need to, in some instances now….

Knowing the trick of the game.
Have you ever wondered why…..

Casinos don’t have windows or clocks…because the operators don’t want their customers to have any distractions or to keep track of time when they are into it because the fewer the distractions the longer the player plays, the greater the opportunity for casino’s rig to drag the players down.

Hotels do have full length mirrors near the elevators so the guest can admire themselves more and not notice the wait caused by the lack of elevators. Mirrors are cheaper than elevators.

No long mirrors at the hospitals ward or in the corridors so you won't notice how lean you are after discharge.

Those who master the why can master great discoveries and are always at the top of situations.

Remember the reason you have to dance with who brings you in to a party and those in the party is because when the party is over you may need a ride- Home.

Attitude- Your attitude determines your altitude

Although this post was done some times back by me but it could not register...so after i got some mails about this i decided to repost it.

When I came accross the quotation 'Your attitude determines your altitude' I did not really get the actuall understanding of the word- i did not specifically use the word 'meaning' but I knew there is more to it. I saw the quotation in John Maxwell's book actually.

So I wrote it in a book on my table and I most times come accross it... I later read some books that actually talks about ones attitude and because i come accross a lot of people i began looking at their attitude and how it will or affect the relationship I might have or have had with them and their relationship with others, basically how they fare in their lives. Some I dont really need to have anything to do with them but out of curiosity i will try and monitor them for a while an see if I can be of any help or assistance in the way they act or do things sometimes.

Our attitude sometimes make us to have a negative or positive idea about life and other people around us and this thought always fill there mind mostly in negetive instance that other people or the world dont like them! But really if your attitude towards life, people is good you will receive excellent result! The world we live in is full of words and to this words various responses are attached, that is meanings some are of happiness, acceptance, encouragement, success, hatered, etc so the way we act sometimes affect what we say out - the words of our mouth.

Our attitude as well determine the height we will get to in life, it determines whether we fail or succeed in an endeavour, to some it present a difficulty in every opportunity; for some it present an opportunity in every difficulty.

Our attitude also determines our approach to life, maybe because we are not having fun or enjoying our lives or the job we do then we should not say the whole world is not enjoying themselves or the whole world is stinking. change cannot come from other it must come from YOU. Learn to feel good about life and you will get good feed back.

With positive attitude some climb, while some fall with a negative attitude.

Making the Time

Taking some lessons from the Japanese, who believe that there are 4 types of time.
Which are-
1) Operational time- Which is the time necessary to correct yesterday’s errors or mistakes.
2) Strategic time- The time needed to plan for the future.
3) Innovative Time- The time to be more competitive tomorrow
4) Kaizen Time- The time needed for the continuous improvements that ensures that we have a tomorrow.

This times analyzed all are in step like format trying to make us a better person in our general endeavors.

It is generally true that we do not devote enough time to finding better ways of doing things. Make the time to review what we could do to improve our work and our life and having done these take action!

We always flow with the syndrome ‘no time’ and thus we leave major things left undone.

The moment we could improve or timing or take time to manage our time we could see that we have enormous time to improve our work, our life and basically our self. Without falling into the trap of procrastination and we will see good result in our lives.

Positive Attitude

Living in a positive attitude is a necessity in our life. No matter what people think or say or even perceive about you, so far you have the mind set that you can make it then nothing can stop you.

A Bubble bee the biggest size of a honey making bee does not have any attributes of flying as fast as it does scientifically but a bubble bee carries itself and fly and makes honey daily.

A young man inside the elevator started humming a song to himself, then one of his colleague snapped at him irritably at him that what is he so happy about, the man answered “I ain’t never lived this day before”- he expected something great in the day.

A great artist (Frank Lloyd) at the age of eighty-four (84) was asked which of his work he would call a masterpiece he simply look and answered “my next one”

A man looked at two labourers working one was always frowning cursing his employers and then was asked what he was doing he said “I am just pilling one stone on top of another all day long until my back aches and break. The other man was asked as well he said joyfully “I am not just pilling one brick on the other to make a wall, I am helping build a cathedral”

A driver who drive trucks over a long distance everyday was asked if he ever get tired he replied “It is in the attitude every morning when I go to work, I go for a ride while some other just to work”

The future looks so bright if the attitude or perspective is right. This makes a positive person sees the journey as enjoyable one, thus make the present enjoyable.
